Welcome to Petrnr (“Petrnr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the petrnr.com website and the services offered through it (the “Service”). By creating an account, browsing sitter listings, or booking a service through Petrnr, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What Petrnr Is
Petrnr is an online marketplace that connects pet owners (“Owners”) with independent pet sitters and dog walkers (“Sitters”) for pet care services such as dog walking, pet sitting, boarding, and overnight care. Petrnr does not itself provide pet care services. Sitters are independent contractors and are not employees, agents, or representatives of Petrnr. Petrnr is not a party to the arrangement between an Owner and a Sitter beyond facilitating the booking and payment through this Service.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or book a service on Petrnr. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Bookings, Fees & Commission
Owners book services directly with a chosen Sitter through the Petrnr booking system. Pricing for each service is set by the Sitter and displayed at the time of booking. As part of our current pricing model, Petrnr charges 0% commission on completed bookings — Sitters keep 100% of what they charge. Petrnr reserves the right to introduce service or commission fees in the future; Owners and Sitters will be notified of any such change before it takes effect.
4. Founding Sitter Program
The Founding Sitter Program rewards the earliest Sitters who help build the Petrnr marketplace.
Who qualifies
You qualify as a Founding Sitter if you are one of the first 100 Sitters approved on Petrnr, counted in order of approval date. The Program is open to new entrants until 100 Sitters have been approved, or until February 28, 2027, whichever happens first — once either threshold is reached, the Program closes to new entrants. Founding status is granted under the exact same application review as every other Sitter; it never lowers our vetting standard. Sitters already approved before this Program was published are included automatically, in the order of their original approval date. Founding status is limited to one account per person and is non-transferable.
What’s locked in
For as long as your account remains open and in good standing, Founding Sitters keep: 0% commission on every completed booking; no booking fees; no listing or subscription fees for your Sitter profile; and advance notice before any change to a Petrnr policy that affects Sitters.
How you can lose Founding status (disqualification)
Your Founding benefits last for the life of your account, but only while the account stays open and in good standing — meaning you follow these Terms, keep your profile information accurate, and have no unresolved safety or conduct issue on your account. Founding status ends immediately if: you close your account; your account is terminated for cause under Section 13 (Termination); or your account is found to violate Section 10 (Prohibited Conduct), including misrepresenting your identity or qualifications. There is deliberately no minimum-booking requirement — an inactive Founding account keeps its status, since a dormant profile costs Petrnr nothing.
What this doesn’t cover
Standard third-party card processing fees still apply to every booking. Petrnr currently covers this cost so nothing is deducted from your payout, and we’ll give advance notice before that ever changes. Optional future paid products (for example, promoted profile placement) are separate from Founding status and not included. Petrnr may introduce a fee paid by Owners in the future; that never reduces a Founding Sitter’s payout — you always keep 100% of the rate you set.
Relationship to our general fee policy
Our general policy is that Sitters pay no commission and no booking fees while Petrnr grows. The benefits described above for Founding Sitters are locked in for the life of a qualifying account, regardless of any future change to that general policy.
5. Payments
Payments for bookings made through the Service are processed securely via Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Petrnr does not store your full payment card details. By submitting payment through the Service, you agree to Stripe’s own terms of service and privacy policy in addition to these Terms.
6. Cancellations & Refunds
Unless a specific Sitter’s listing states otherwise, bookings may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled start time may not be eligible for a refund, at the discretion of the Sitter. To cancel or modify a booking, please contact us through the Contact page and we will assist you directly.
7. Sitter Responsibilities
Sitters are solely responsible for the pet care services they provide, including their qualifications, conduct, punctuality, and the safety and well-being of any pet in their care during a booking. Petrnr does not supervise, direct, or control the manner in which a Sitter performs services.
8. Owner Responsibilities
Owners are responsible for providing accurate information about their pet(s), including behavior, medical needs, and any special care instructions, and for ensuring their pet is safe to be cared for by a Sitter. Owners are responsible for any damage or injury caused by their pet during a booking to the extent permitted by law.
9. Reviews & Content
Any reviews, photos, or other content you submit to Petrnr must be truthful, accurate, and your own. Petrnr reserves the right to remove content that is false, abusive, or violates these Terms.
10. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) circumvent the Petrnr platform to avoid agreed booking terms; (c) harass, abuse, or discriminate against other users; (d) misrepresent your identity, pet, or qualifications; or (e) attempt to interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service.
11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Petrnr does not guarantee the availability, quality, safety, or suitability of any Sitter or Owner. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Petrnr’s total liability arising out of or relating to your use of the Service shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Petrnr in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Petrnr is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to injury to a pet, property damage, or lost income, arising from a booking between an Owner and a Sitter.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Petrnr harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your interactions with another user of the Service.
13. Termination
Petrnr may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe, in good faith, that you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct that harms the Service or other users.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
