Petrnr (“Petrnr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use petrnr.com and the services offered through it (the “Service”), how we use that information, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
Petrnr is a pet care marketplace based in Murrieta, California that connects pet owners with independent pet sitters and dog walkers. Petrnr is the “data controller” for information collected through petrnr.com.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account information. When you register as an Owner or Sitter, we collect your name, email address, phone number, home neighborhood or city, profile photo (optional), and any additional details you choose to add (bio, sitter service area, pet details, etc.).
Booking information. When you book or accept a booking, we collect the dates and times of service, the pet(s) involved, the address where care will be provided, and any messages exchanged through the Service.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited payment metadata (amount, currency, status, last 4 digits of the card) but Petrnr does not store full payment card numbers. Sitters who enroll in payouts complete Stripe Connect onboarding directly with Stripe; Stripe holds their identity and bank details, not Petrnr.
Communications. Messages you send us through the Contact page or reply to from Petrnr emails.
Usage information. Server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps, pages viewed), cookies for session and login state, and basic analytics on how the Service is used.
AI chat data. See Section 6 below for the specific data collected when you use the Ask Petrnr chat feature.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Create and maintain your account
- Facilitate bookings and payments between Owners and Sitters
- Send transactional emails (booking confirmations, password resets, receipts)
- Send launch and product-update notifications to email addresses that have opted in
- Prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and rate-limit violations
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Sharing With Third Parties
We share information only with:
- Stripe — to process payments and Sitter payouts. Stripe’s handling of payment data is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Brevo — our email service provider, used to send transactional and launch-notification emails. Brevo receives your email address and first name if provided. Brevo’s handling is governed by Brevo’s Privacy Policy.
- Perplexity AI — receives the content of messages you send to the Ask Petrnr chat feature to generate a response. See Section 6.
- Other Sitters or Owners — limited profile information (name, city, profile photo, bio) is shown to the counterparty of a booking so you know who you are dealing with.
- Legal and safety — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of a person or pet.
We do not run third-party advertising trackers on petrnr.com.
5. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies for:
- Session and login state — keeps you logged in as you move between pages.
- Bookly booking form — remembers form progress across steps.
- Site performance — WP Fastest Cache uses cookies to serve cached vs. non-cached pages.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent parts of the Service (login, booking, chat) from working.
6. Ask Petrnr AI Chat Data
Petrnr operates an AI-powered chat assistant (“Ask Petrnr”) on petrnr.com. When you use Ask Petrnr, we collect:
- The content of your messages
- Your IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention)
- Whether you are logged in to a Petrnr account
- Timestamps of each interaction
- Your email address if you provide one to continue chatting beyond the free message limit
Messages are sent to our AI provider, Perplexity AI, to generate responses. Perplexity’s handling of this data is governed by Perplexity’s Privacy Policy. Perplexity does not train models on API traffic by default.
We retain chat logs for up to 12 months for quality assurance, safety monitoring, and legal compliance, after which they are automatically deleted.
We do not sell chat data to third parties.

7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specific retention periods:
- Account records — kept while your account exists; deleted within 60 days of account deletion request.
- Booking and payment records — retained for at least 7 years to meet tax and financial-record obligations.
- AI chat logs — up to 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- Email marketing lists — until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs — up to 90 days.
8. Your Rights (California and Elsewhere)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Access a copy of that information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — Petrnr does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@petrnr.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will respond within 45 days.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
9. Children’s Privacy
Petrnr is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact hello@petrnr.com and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use HTTPS across the site, keep WordPress, plugins, and PHP up to date, restrict database access to authorized personnel, and process payments through Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified). No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
11. International Users
Petrnr is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be announced by email to registered users where practical.
